Last weekend, Stockton and District Motor Club secured its status as the most knowledgeable car club in Great Britain at the National Autoglym Car Club Quiz.
Held at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon in Warwickshire, the final of the motoring and motorsport-themed quiz was contested by the top teams that emerged from a tough qualification round held online.
The quiz was open to entries from more than 750 car clubs registered with the Motor Sports Association. Teams from across the country took part in a mammoth, 100-question qualification round online, and only the best four were then invited to compete at the national final.
Founded in 1930, the Stockton and District Motor Club have a proud heritage in motorsport and meet weekly all year round. Headed by Chairman Martin Peacock, the team trained hard before attempting the qualifying round and even harder before the final.
“We were disappointed to be pipped-at-the-post in the 2008 quiz, and were determined to win this year”, commented Peacock. “We have a great team of really knowledgeable people, but we still made sure we revised hard in preparation for the final.”
The annual quiz was organised by Autoglym, the UK’s market-leading car care brand. The British company is famous for its high quality range of products that have kept the nation’s cars sparkling since 1965. Associated with some of the world’s most famous automotive brands, such as Aston Martin and Jaguar, Autoglym also has a close relationship with car clubs as members are devoted to keeping their cars in tip-top condition.
“We were so pleased to see that the Stockton team made the final again this year,” remarked David Rogers, Autoglym Sales and Marketing Director. “I remember how close things were in 2008, so it’s fitting that the Stockton team came out on top this time. Autoglym has a special relationship with car clubs across the country, as members know that using our products will give the best, most durable finish for their prized cars.”
