Our School of Car Care campaign aims to bring you the very best insight, advice and product guides to help you keep your car in tip top condition this winter.
In our latest piece of expert advice, our resident expert, Martin, from Autoglym’s TSS training team, looks at how to achieve a spotless interior using Autoglym’s Interior Shampoo.
One thing’s for sure, during winter, it’s the inside of your car that takes the brunt of the bad weather; from muddy mats to kid’s footprints on the back of seats, water stains and who knows what else, the list is endless.
However, Interior Shampoo is an effective way of making all your interior surfaces spotless from seats to dashboards and other interior fabrics. It works by quickly removing the built-up dirt and grime leaving a fresh clean fragrance.
A clean interior in a car not only feels amazing, but helps you focus on the drive ahead too.
Step 1
First thing’s first, give your car interior a good hoover. Most dirt inside your car is dry and the majority can be removed this way.
Step 2
Now it’s time to apply the shampoo. Spray it onto all interior surfaces in a sweeping motion, ensuring an even application.
Step 3
Once applied, agitate the softer areas with a soft brush or firm sponge, before wiping over with a clean, damp aqua-dry, rinsing it frequently in a bucket of clean water. For harder areas, for example, dashboards, you can simply spray on, wipe off.
And it’s as easy as that!
Remember Interior Shampoo is not suitable for leather seats. When cleaning these, use a soft brush to work away dirty from the stitching, before applying Leather Cleaner.
For oil, ink or pen marks, use Tar and Adhesive Remover.
The end result?
A spotless, as-new interior that is as perfect as your paintwork!
Pro tips:
Always think about the sequence you clean your car in; you should generally start with the exterior before the interior, otherwise you’ll risk undoing all your good work.
