In Detailer Diaries we ask industry professionals to reveal their favourite go-to products. This time its the turn of Chris McCleery, of Mawsley Detailing, a lifelong Autoglym fan who turned his passion for cleaning cars into a thriving business. That has lead him to the world of F1, the British Touring Car Championship and he is currently the Official Detailer to three of the UK’s leading concours of elegance events, responsible for keeping millions of pounds of machinery in tip top condition for thousands of visitors.
Radiant Wax
Why: “Easy to use, works on all types of paintwork and on wheels. I find that it works well as a stand alone polish, or I can increase the durability by adding a wax or sealant.”
Tyre Dressing
Why: “If you like a really shiny tyre, this has to be the go to product. A very small amount seems to go a long way.”
Super Sheen
Why: “I also like to use this on tyres. I spray it onto the tyres directly to achieve a high shine, or apply it with a sponge for a more matte finish. I also like to spray a little onto plastic inner wheel arches for that perfect finish.”
Window Clean
Why: “For me, this is one of the most versatile products that Autoglym make. Not only does it produce a fantastic smear free finish on glass, it can also create a lovely finish on satin and matte paintwork.”
Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner
Why: “This product is like a breath of fresh air in the wheel cleaning world. I have found that it can be used on all types of wheels to remove in ground and stubborn brake dust with confidence.”
Coat-It
Why: “Coat-It for me is, above all others, my favourite product in the Autoglym Professional range, offering unrivalled gloss and water dispersal as well as being one of the easiest products to use. It also smells amazing!”
High Foaming TFR
Why: “In the commercial vehicle cleaning world this product is a game changer, providing the cling of a snow foam, but the cleaning power of a TFR. It removes dirt from everything from hard sided and curtain sided vehicle.”
Clean All
Why: “Everything you need to know about this product is in the title!”
QuikRefresh
Why: “As we look after three of the largest concours events in the country, QuikRefresh is a must have in our armoury. When cars are covered in light dust, this coupled with an InstaDry makes keeping all of the beautiful cars clean a breeze.”
Instant Ceramic Spray
Why: “We tend to use this product when we have more time with a car. It can be used alone or following on from polish for added protection.”
